*Ejemplos de música modal: 
La escala dórica tiene tintes medievales, la escala frigia suena a música andaluza, la lidia tiene un color de fantasía por contener el tritono, la mixolidia se utiliza mucho en música pop al no tener sensible, la jónica coincide con la escala mayor y la eólica con la menor, etc.

Escala frigia: Zorongo (podéis escuchar la escala frigia en la melodía de la introducción, aunque en momentos se juegue también con el sol sostenido, lo cual es típico en la música andaluza.
Escala lidia: Lydia, de Gabriel Fauré. Lied en el que se mezcla esta escala modal con la tonalidad (escala mayor). Justo al principio sí se escucharían las primeras notas de la escala modal lidia, transportada a sol. Fijaos en la partitura: cuando aparece el do sostenido estamos utilizando esa escala modal


Escala mixolidia: Podéis escuchar esta escala en muchísimos temas de pop-rock. Sólo tenéis que fijaros en que en lugar de la sensible suene la subtónica.
